What Is Nutrition Therapy?
Hippocrates explains Nutrition Therapy by using “Food as thy Medicine, and Medicine as thy Food”. Since food has the power to both hurt and heal the body, a therapeutic diet can make all the difference. Nutrition Therapy has the ability to return people to their optimum state of health, naturally. This holistic, whole-foods approach, which has been practiced for centuries, can now benefit from today’s western medicine and science to support these theories. The body is designed to heal itself, but it needs the right nutrients to get to the core of the problem.
Remembering That Our Body Is Our Temple!
Our body is our temple - it houses our spirit, which is our connection to God. For that very reason, we need to care for our bodies, as well as our souls. What we put in our body should reflect this very concept (as best we can while living in this world). Eating what I would call “godless” food can contribute to dis-ease. Conversely, eating unencumbered, untainted foods from this earth (truly a gift), are the vehicles that can bring forth God’s healing energy and deposit them directly into our temples.
Where nutrition is today?
Just about every other conversation centers around various ailments – childhood allergies, digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, auto-immune diseases, ADHD, chronic skin conditions, continual weigh gain, obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue and more. As you look around, you can see the overall health of our nation in steep decline, and you ask yourself “Why is this happening?”… “What is the cause?” – It’s even “happening” to “healthy” people!?
Our culture eats on the go, out of convenience and on ingrained, habitual motivations. Over-consumption and malnutrition (despite the abundance of food) contribute significantly to today’s national crisis. We have been “conditioned” to think that the only food we should be eating is food that comes in a wrapper, box or bag – food that is mass produced, promoted with clever marketing techniques, and created with economic interests in mind. This is the very same “food” that is contributing to these various conditions.
By simply being open, asking questions, investigating, and conducting guided dietary experiments on yourself, you may be surprised at the findings. It’s these findings that can help protect you, and your family, throughout your life — and help to maintain an overall sense of health and wellness.
How I can help!
My mission is to share the science behind the food we eat, and to shed light on the harmful, helpful and neutral foods that we consume. I want to inspire those who want to learn, and who have the courage to make the changes toward a healthier lifestyle. A dramatic change may or may not be necessary, but everyone can benefit from making small changes – changes that can make all the difference in the long run. Education is key to making the fundamental change that this world needs, and health is at the center of this change.
Together, we will develop a holistic nutritional program customized to your bio-individuality. Also, if it makes sense, we can address the spiritual component as well. Our body is our temple, so to consider our entire being – body, mind, soul & environmental influences – is critical to healing.
We will assess your dietary history, medical history, dietary habits, lab testing and lifestyle. You will learn how to integrate specific foods that promote health through a variety of possible vehicles including: personalized consulting services, guided tour of a health food store, what to cook, how to cook it, and key supportive writings that I will share.
You know the old saying, “Give a man a fish and you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.” This is what I aim to do, but ultimately your success is based on your honest dedication and commitment… and my job is to help educate and guide you on your path toward holistic health.
